2 Ningbo agricultural labs win national recognition

Two agricultural laboratories in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province were recently included in the list of 151 national key labs released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, as per local media sources.

One of the labs belongs to Ningbo Weimeng Seed Industry Co Ltd, focusing on the cultivation of watermelon and Chinese cabbage seeds.

It is the first national key laboratory in the digital seed industry in Zhejiang and employs advanced technologies such as big data, the internet of things, and artificial intelligence to develop better seed varieties. It is also a vital component of the Jiangshan Seed Industry Town in Yinzhou district.

The other laboratory specializes in pig breeding technology innovation and is established by Sansheng Biological Technology Co Ltd.

The lab comprises over 70 staff members, including eight doctoral-degree holders and over 30 master's degree holders, possessing extensive experience in numerous fields including drug synthesis, preparation research, quality research, genetic engineering, animal husbandry, and veterinary medicine.

The lab has led or participated in many national key projects for the research and development of new veterinary drugs and was awarded several accolades, including the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and the Excellence Award of the China Invention Patent.
