Northeast China's Jilin province recorded steady development in its industrial economy in the first four months of 2023, with the data showing strong growth.
During the period from January to April, the industrial enterprises above the designated size in the province demonstrated a commendable growth trajectory. Notably, the profit growth rate reached an impressive 11.1 percent, positioning the province as the second-highest performer in the entire country. This robust profitability expansion reflects the resilience and competitiveness of the industrial sector within the province. Furthermore, the operating income growth rate stood at a commendable 10.7 percent, securing a commendable fourth-place ranking nationwide.
The total profit of industrial enterprises above the designated size in the province was 16.6 billion yuan ($2.25 billion), and the operating income was 411.6 billion yuan.
Jilin has a solid industrial foundation with several State-owned enterprises such as FAW Group, Jilin Chemical Industry Group, and CRRC Changchun. In recent years, Jilin's emerging industries, such as optoelectronic information, precision instruments, fine chemicals, new energy, and new materials, have proliferated.
The automobile industry has always been the pillar industry in Jilin. In recent years, FAW Group has been striving to build a "world-class enterprise."
By the end of April, FAW exported 21,570 vehicles overseas, a year-on-year increase of 145 percent. Among them, the export of independent brands was 18,658, a year-on-year increase of 115 percent (Hongqi brand exported 3,003 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 208 percent). Joint venture brands achieved a breakthrough in exports, reaching 2,912 vehicles with a completion rate of 102 percent.
The world's first hydrogen fuel cell tram for urban rail transit, developed by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles, has a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour, and a "hydrogen fuel cell power" system built-in, which provides strong and long-lasting power for the vehicle, achieving over 600km of ultra-long distance endurance.
