2023 Taihu Talent Summit opens in Wuxi

The 2023 Taihu Talent Summit commenced in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, on May 24, local media outlets reported.

The summit was attended by more than 1,000 high-profile talents, including renowned entrepreneurs, investors, and representatives from talent agencies and alumni alliances.

Du Xiaogang, Party secretary of Wuxi, gave a warm welcome to the participants and thanked them for their long-term support and concern for the city's development.

He noted that the history of Wuxi is also the history of innovative development and talent growth.

Du encouraged more talents to visit Wuxi or start a business there, as the city boasts a favorable business climate, abundant resources, and a livable environment.

The Taihu Lake Talent Plan is an important way for Wuxi to bring in high-caliber talents, and this year Academician Ding Rongjun's team was named the top talent team and received the highest possible financial support at 100 million yuan ($14.16 million).

Nine innovative projects led by academicians and 12 projects from the Yangtze River Delta and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area were also signed into effect at the summit's launch ceremony.

The five-day summit also saw the release of the Global Basic Research Talent Index Report.

Wuxi is currently home to more than 2 million talents, including 170,000 high-profile talents. To attract more talents, the city now offers various subsidies for buying or renting a house, sightseeing, and commuting.
