The main structure of the Optics Valley People's Hospital, located in and owned by the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC), was roofed on May 28, one month ahead of schedule.
As the first tertiary comprehensive hospital owned by the valley, it was jointly constructed by the administrative committee of OVC and Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University.
Setting 1,000 patient beds and a total construction area of 244,000 square meters, the new hospital consists of four inpatient buildings, two comprehensive treatment buildings, one administrative building, one fever clinic, a multi-story parking facility, and a large-scale surgery center with 20 operating rooms.

It is estimated that the hospital construction will be concluded in December 2024.
Since the beginning of this year, the valley has been advancing the healthcare infrastructure layout within Wuhan, New City, with a series of treatment centers, disease control centers, and community medical service centers to be put into use soon.
