BEIJING -- The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR) is an excellent example for China and other countries in the region to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation through extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Tuesday.
Mao made the remarks at a regular press briefing when asked to comment on the latest progress in constructing the high-speed line.
The joint commissioning and testing of the Jakarta-Bandung HSR started on Monday, conducted before the opening of the high-speed railway to ensure the safe and smooth operation of the trainsets, marking a milestone in the construction of the railway project.
Mao said the Jakarta-Bandung HSR is the first overseas high-speed railway project that fully uses Chinese railway systems, technology, and industrial components, a flagship project of China-Indonesia Belt and Road cooperation.
Noting that the Jakarta-Bandung HSR will be the first high-speed railway in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, Mao said the project entered the sprint stage.
Mao said with the joint efforts of the two countries, the Jakarta-Bandung HSR will be completed and opened to traffic as scheduled, paving the way for the well-being of local people and accelerating the development of Indonesia and the region.
