The 2023 Changchun Marathon started with great enthusiasm on May 21, as 30,000 runners gathered in Changchun, capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province, to start a national running feast with passion and sweat.
This marked the fourth marathon event held by Changchun city and included three categories: the full marathon at 42.195 kilometers (26.22 miles), the half marathon at 21.0975 km, and the Health Run at 7.5 km. Participation in each category is open for men and women.
After fierce competition, Ethiopian runners dominated the men's full marathon, with one winning the gold medal in 2:11:44, followed by his compatriots in second and third place, respectively.
In the women's race, the Ethiopian runner also won the gold medal with a time of 2:32:55, while one participant from Ethiopia and one from Kenya took the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
