The core focus of the demonstration zone construction, as revealed during the conference, is five key actions.
Firstly, the authorities aim to improve desertification prevention and treatment, ensuring protecting and restoring fragile ecosystems. Secondly, they strive to enhance the efficient utilization of resources, promoting sustainable practices that minimize waste and maximize productivity. Thirdly, the zone aims to accelerate the high-quality development of modern energy economics, fostering innovation in renewable energy sources and minimizing environmental impact.
Furthermore, the demonstration zone seeks to propel its progress through talent and technological innovation, recognizing the pivotal role in driving sustainable growth. Lastly, the authorities endeavor to promote the coordinated development of urban and rural areas, striking a balance between urbanization and the preservation of natural landscapes.
Ordos has been ardently tackling ecological challenges in recent years, showcasing its unwavering commitment to environmental conservation. To combat ecological fragility and soil erosion, the city has spearheaded initiatives to integrate and safeguard its diverse natural assets, encompassing mountains, waters, forests, fields, lakes, grasslands, and sands.
By establishing a comprehensive desertification control system, Ordos has successfully maintained the stability of the regional ecosystem.
Additionally, the city has undertaken transformative measures such as developing the Yellow River ecological corridor and implementing the Yellow River Basin Ecological Protection Special Action. These ambitious endeavors have effectively increased the soil conservation rate by 65.8 percent.
