Archery World Cup held in Pudong

The 2023 Hyundai Archery World Cup Lujiazui Shanghai, which kicked off on May 16 and will run till May 21 in Shanghai's Pudong New Area, has attracted more than 400 athletes and coaches from over 40 countries and regions.

A qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the competition has 10 sporting events, including individual and team competitions for men's and women's recurve bows, men's and women's compound bows and mixed-team compound bows.

Some of the world's top archers, including Brazilian Marcus D'Almeida, South Korean Kim Woojin and Turkish Mete Gazoz are taking part in the competition.

Britain's 18-year-old Penny Healey and three-time Olympic gold medalist An San from South Korea will be competing in the women's individual recurve bow event.

Dutchman Mike Schloesser, who is ranked first in the world, will participate in men's individual compound bow competition. The women's individual compound bow competition will include Ella Gibson from England and Jyothi Surekha Vennam from India.

The Chinese athletes attending the event include the men's recurve bow team comprising Li Zhongyuan, Qi Xiangshuo, Wei Shaoxuan, and Wang Dapeng. The women's recurve bow team is made up of Zhang Mengyao, An Qixuan, Hai Liguan, and Qiu Muyan.

A series of archery carnivals have been launched during the competition period to stimulate sports consumption and allow people to experience the charm of archery.
