On May 18, as part of the celebrations for International Museum Day, the exhibit on Chinese original illustrations, supported and guided by the National Arts Fund, and organized by the Communication University of China with the Animation and Digital Arts School as the host, opened its second round at the Weihai Museum in Shandong province. Guests attended the opening ceremony with the project leaders.
Since its first exhibit at the Zhang Leping Memorial Hall in Haiyan county, Zhejiang province, on April 15, the project has garnered widespread attention from many domestic illustrators and enthusiasts.
During the opening ceremony of the Weihai exhibition, curators Wang Lijun and Long Niannan donated a collection of picture books with stories set in Weihai to the Weihai Museum. The collection includes Homecoming, Looking for Mom, Seaside Cottage, and Lord Liu Pacifying the Sea, all created by renowned picture book authors and published by Tianjin People's Fine Arts Publishing Group.
Visitors have the opportunity to marvel at some classic Chinese original comics, illustrations and comic books from the past century in one exhibition. The application of modern interactive technologies such as AR and VR has become one of the highlights of the exhibit.
The exhibit will run until June 11. Afterwards, the exhibition will travel to other places, including Tianjin, Sichuan, and Beijing.
