Located to the east of the Guizhou Provincial Museum, the New Branch of the Guizhou Library covers 36,000 square meters and is designed to resemble a pile of books.
Why it’s special
Compared with the old one, the seven-floor new branch of the Guizhou Library strengthens the scientific and musical experience of its users, featuring rooms dedicated to a Long March archives collection and autobiographical materials based on Guizhou natives’ Who's Who entries, audio books, scientific innovation related resources, and facilities for music listening.
In the digital experiential area, visitors can use the VR and AR equipment to practice calligraphy and appreciate the beauty of the poems of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
Materials on music and films are displayed in an individual room of the library. Apart from books, visitors can experience digitized content from the 12 electronic murals hanging on the walls and borrow them through a quick scan of QR codes attached to each collection.
In addition, the library boasts sound facilities and offers considerate services, such as capsule study rooms, a self-service book return machine, and a robot that can provide guidance and book searching services for library users.
