Guangzhou's instant tax refunds to boost consumer sales

Guangzhou has become the third city, after Beijing and Shanghai, to launch a pilot program that enables instant tax refunds for traveling consumers. 

Visitors from overseas can now receive their tax refunds while shopping in Guangzhou. The response from businesses has been swift, with some stores processing transactions within the same day. 

To be eligible for the refunds, which range from 500 to 50,000 yuan ($7,839), shoppers must meet certain criteria. This includes the fact that the traveling consumers must be departing from the city within 17 days, and they must make purchases within the same designated shopping area. 

This new service has made shopping in Guangzhou more convenient for international tourists. 

Additionally, the Guangzhou municipal bureau of commerce has enhanced its "Guangzhou-style service" by offering tailored benefits, which have been well-received by foreign visitors.
