The 2023 Zhejiang Seed Industry Expo opened in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on May 16.
A total of 3,670 varieties selected by 169 scientific research units and seed industry enterprises from home and abroad were exhibited, including more than 20 varieties from Quzhou.
"This year's Zhejiang Seed Industry Expo has expanded the scope of its exhibits. We have selected four categories for exhibition: grain and oil, vegetables, fruits, and poultry and livestock," said an employee of the Quzhou agriculture and rural bureau.
The "Qujiao No 5" white pepper exhibited at the expo has a strong continuous fruiting ability and an average yield of 2,500 kilograms per mu (0.06 hectare). Because of its high yield and high selling price, many people are now growing it.
Quzhou's exhibits for the expo also included Changshan grapefruit, seedless citrus, fresh soybeans, mini sweet potatoes, Longyou black pigs, Longyou sesame chickens, Jiangshan black-bone chickens, Jiangshan white geese, and Zhejiang bees.
