Zhuhai topped the list of 2023 Top 50 Domestic Prefecture-level Cities in Index of Health Informatization Development, which was released by the National Health Commission at the 17th China Health Technology / Healthcare Big Data Application Exchange Conference and Healthcare Products Exhibition on April 15.
Of note, the index has been widely recognized as a barometer for the informatization development of the health industry. It is also China's first comprehensive analysis index in this field.
Zhuhai ranked fifth in 2021 and then third in 2022, showing the city's remarkable outcomes in promoting the coordinated development of its health industry.
In recent years, the city has been making great efforts to become a domestic demonstration city for the "internet + medicine & health" model. As part of these efforts, it launched a "smart" medical service platform in 2018, initially established a health information data base of local residents, and formed a private 5G network for medical institutes at the municipal, district, township, and village levels.
Currently, Zhuhai has been moving forward the construction of a "smart" health big data platform to deepen the application of big data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things in the medicine and health industry. This will help to facilitate safe, convenient, reliable, and precise healthcare services for residents.

Plans are for the city to integrate its municipal treatment transfer platform and its one-stop online consultation platforms to realize the mutual recognition of online and on-site testing results.
An application named "健康珠海" (Healthy Zhuhai) and its affiliated WeChat account have been launched to include all the public medical institutes above level-II in the city. This allows residents to handle registration, payment, results query, and health management with their digital health code.
A unified online hospital platform has also been built, allowing patients to enjoy services like online doctor visits, home care reservations, and purchasing of medicine without a price difference.
Officials of the Zhuhai Health Bureau noted that Zhuhai will continue to focus on meeting the citizens' diversified demands for medical and health services. It will also further optimize its massive health information service system.
