The coastal city of Yantai in Shandong province has in recent years made great strides in cultivating local brands that have in turn promoted the city's high-quality development.
According to official data, 29 Yantai companies with a combined value of 298.73 billion yuan ($42.9 billion) were included in the 2023 Chinese brand value list. The number of brands on the list and their total brand value were both ranked first in Shandong province.
To strengthen brand building, especially in its distinctive industries such as the wine and auto parts, Yantai authorities have implemented a slew of supporting measures and provided funding for 13 projects included in the "Good Products in Shandong" list.
To date, 20 enterprises and three regional brands from Yantai have made the "Good Products in Shandong" list, with the number of entrants ranking third in the province. A total of 42 Yantai enterprises were recognized as high-end brand cultivation enterprises in Shandong province, seven more than last year. Yantai wine and Yantai apples are ranked third and eighth respectively among the top 100 regional brands in China in terms of brand value.
