The Southern Stainless Steel Market, located in the Wuxi New District (WND), which once accounted for 40 percent of steel trading in China, has been repurposed into the 1969 Creative Workshop.
Due to new urban planning, the original site was preserved and rebuilt into modern office spaces for creative small and medium-sized companies.

Currently, over 350 companies with more than 3,000 employees have moved into the block, encompassing industries such as culture, education, sports, and creative design.
The sports venues on the block have all been repurposed from old factories and offer facilities for basketball, football, badminton and archery.
Additionally, the block is home to many popular shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars.
