Authorities in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province released an action plan aimed at enhancing the integration of the culture and tourism sectors on May 4.
Specifically, Zhoushan will channel more resources towards building a series of facilities to display its marine culture and host sports competitions and music and film activities.
According to the action plan, the added value of Zhoushan's cultural and tourism industry will account for 8.2% of its GDP by 2027.
The city will launch a number of cultural and tourism projects with a combined investment of more than 50 billion yuan ($7.21 billion), including building a world-class scenic spot, national-level tourist resort, national-level cultural and tourist leisure block, and two core scenic spots, making Zhoushan an international island for leisure and holidaying.
According to the plan, Zhoushan will focus efforts on optimizing its industrial layout and upgrading its infrastructure over the next five years.
In addition, authorities will develop more cultural and tourism products such as film and television bases and study tours.
