The International Root Carving Cultural Exchange Week in Kaihua county, Quzhou, is a bid to support China's Belt and Road Initiative. The exchange week, which has been held for two consecutive years since 2017, is also part of China (Kaihua) Root Carving Cultural Festival which was launched in 2010.
Kaihua is the hometown of root carving in China. A series of activities, including root carving competitions, cultural heritage exhibitions and cultural performances, takes place during the exchange week, so as to promote root carving culture to the world.
