Deals worth 250 million yuan ($35.97 million) were signed between enterprises from the national capital Beijing and Harbin, capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province, on April 20.
The event took place during an agricultural products promotions meeting held by Harbin at the 12th China International Modern Agricultural Exhibition on April 20-22 in Beijing.
Around 400 kinds of agricultural and sideline products produced by 36 Harbin enterprises were promoted - all organic, not genetically modified, safe, nutritious and healthy high-quality products.
Additionally, information on 56 Harbin businesses was announced at the Harbin promotion meeting. These enterprises were recognized as being Heilongjiang-branded products, Heilongjiang-branded agricultural products and Harbin-branded products.
Harbin is a city renowned for its grain and cooking oil production. The unique geography and environment are said to have given it the competitive edge in terms of its grain, whose annual production capacity now exceeds 15 billion kilograms.
What's more, the metropolis is the core production area for high-quality rice in Heilongjiang province, with the crop produced by its county-level city of Wuchang and in its Fangzheng, Yanshou and Tonghe counties officially allowed to be called "fine rice".
