Shanghai International Resort, which includes the iconic Shanghai Disney Resort and the outlet mall Bicester Village Shanghai, received 514,400 visitors during the five-day May Day holiday from April 29 to May 5, generating 375 million yuan ($54.23 million) in tourism revenue, which were 26.9 percent and 64.8 percent increases over the same period in 2019 respectively.
As the first May Day holiday after the optimization of China's pandemic prevention and control policies, people's long-suppressed desire to travel was unleashed. Shanghai International Resort was one of the preferred places for tourists to travel. Shanghai Disney Resort was among the top 10 popular scenic spots in China during the May Day holiday, while the passenger flow and retail sales of Bicester Village Shanghai both increased by more than 20 percent year-on-year.
During the holiday, Shanghai International Resort implemented various measures to enhance tourists' experiences and boost consumption. For example, Shanghai Disney Resort offered a variety of ticket packages to provide high-quality recreation options for visitors.
