Ceke Port, located in Ejine Banner, Alshaa League of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has officially launched its meat import business, with 25 metric tons of frozen horse meat imported from Mongolia passing through the port on May 5.
The value of the imported horse meat is $137,000, marking the first time Ceke Port has imported cold-chain food.
After Inner Mongolia Zhongce E-Commerce Co declared the customs clearance procedures in advance, a refrigerated truck full of frozen horse meat passed all customs and border inspections, and proceeded smoothly from Ceke Port to the designated supervision site for imported meat.
In July 2016, the former General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine approved the establishment of a designated monitoring site for imported meat at Ceke Port. The site was successfully inspected and accepted by the General Administration of Customs in September 2019.
The Ceke Meat Import Designated Port Supervision Site covers a total area of 37,000 square meters, with a cold storage area of more than 5,500 square meters. The total project investment is 37 million yuan ($5.35 million). The total annual import volume is designed to be 50,000 tons, and 2,000 tons of goods can be stored at the same time.
