Wuxi Museum is a comprehensive museum featuring local history and art. The impressive 67,000-square-meter building is located at the south end of Taihu Square and is the largest public cultural facility in Wuxi.
The building hosts the Wuxi Revolutionary Museum, Wuxi Museum and Wuxi Science Museum. The exhibition area of more than 20,000 exhibits covers 14,000 sq m.
The design of the building is very unique and reflects Wuxi deep water culture and extended canal network under the concept of “water and stone”.
Rich in paintings and calligraphy from the Ming (1369-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, the Wuxi Xu Beihong Art Gallery is also located in the museum, exhibiting authentic paintings from Xu Beihong.
The museum is open free-of-charge to the public, with the exception of special exhibits and film screenings. Group visitors should make a booking with the museum three days in advance. Retired cadres (with retirement certificate), those aged 70 and above (with valid credentials), and mobility-impaired people will be given priority.
