The recently concluded May Day holiday brought about a long-awaited surge of 900,657 visitors in the Lin-gang Special Area, which is located in East China's Shanghai.
Among them, 220,184 visited the scenic spots and 46,349 people visited Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, setting a new daily record.
In addition, the public areas in the city of Lin-gang attracted 680,473 visitors, with a momentary peak of approximately 88,000 visitors.
During the holiday, the main business district in Lin-gang recorded a total of 522,700 visitors, generating revenue of nearly 37.59 million yuan ($5.44 million). The district recorded an increase of 10.99 percent in visitor numbers and 17.96 percent in revenue, compared to the same period last year.
Driven by the series of activities during the holiday, the city proper's business districts, including New world of Port City (STARSTREET), Bailian Lin-gang Living Center and Harbor City Plaza, attracted 265,700 visitors and generated a total revenue of 13.81 million yuan. The districts also recorded an increase of 36.26 percent in visitor numbers and 33.87 percent in revenue compared to the same period last year.
