Northeast China's Jilin province reported strong growth in its tourism sector, with revenue over the recent five-day holiday hitting 6.71 billion yuan ($971 million), registering year-on-year growth of 433.04 percent.

Tourists made a total of 8.94 million visits to the province from April 29 to May 3, up 263.93 percent from the corresponding period in 2022.

Tourists from outside the province accounted for 18.62 percent of the total, with their consumption making up 68.85 percent, an increase of 8.91 percentage points and 39.11 percentage points, respectively, from the year-earlier period.

Major tourist attractions in the province recorded a rebound in tourist numbers and tourism revenue during the period. The reception of tourists and operating income of the Museum of the Imperial Palace of "Manchukuo" in Changchun city recovered to 214 percent and 179 percent, respectively, of the levels seen in 2019.

Meanwhile, the number of tourists welcomed at Jingyuetan Forest Park was 146 percent higher than four years ago while the scenic spot's operating income was 143 percent of the 2019 level.

Rural tourism and homestays are also gaining in popularity. For example, the number of tourists received by the Manshanli Agricultural Leisure Resort was 5.5 times higher than in 2019 while its operating income was up 3.2-fold.
