Chinese artificial intelligence startup 4Paradigm announced on Wednesday the launch of an enterprise-level GPT-like product, becoming the latest AI firm to jump onto the ChatGPT bandwagon.

The product, named Shishuo, which literally translates to "paradigm speaks", is a large-model platform that aims to offer AI-generated software to improve enterprise-level software experience and efficiency.

"To B software, or software for enterprises, is extremely complex and has low development efficiency due to its complexity, thus leaving room for the reconstruction and transformation of generative AI," said Dai Wenyuan, founder and CEO of 4Paradigm.

Faced with restrictions from the United States, Dai said Chinese companies indeed encounter more difficulties than their US counterparts in developing large-scale models, especially in computing power cost and potential restrictions on chips.

"But China's east data, west computing project is expected to save computing costs to some extent and the development of some homegrown GPUs will also inject some impetus," he added.

At the press conference, Dai unplugged the network cable to demonstrate its abilities in picture comprehension, multiple rounds of dialogue, writing novels and drawing.

"To transform enterprise software boasting language capabilities is not enough for a large model. More importantly, a large model should have the capability of copilot and chain of thoughts," he said.

For instance, employees at stores can send instructions to Shishuo using interactive methods such as voice and text.

After Shishuo hears the instructions, the monitoring software is able to call up pictures of the back kitchen staff not wearing a mask, and sends a warning in the form of a dialogue box.
