Would you have ever thought the well-known painting "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" could be turned into a carving on a tree trunk? Folk artist Zheng Chunhui from Putian, Fujian province has done just that! Zheng carved the painting on a 12-meter-long trunk of camphor tree.
It was showcased on the program "China's Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH)" (Fujian Chapter), which was produced by China Central Television (CCTV), and broadcasted on CCTV-1 on the evening of April 22.
Putian wood carving, which reached its peak in the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368-1911), is famous for its beautiful designs. It was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage item in 2019.
