Giant real estate developer Vanke Group's subsidiary – Wanwei Shanghai Lin-gang Park – officially opened a logistics park in the Lin-gang Special Area of East China's Shanghai on April 18.
Located in the special area next to Yangshan Deep Water Port, Wanwei Shanghai Lin-gang Park is positioned as a fresh fruit operations center.
It provides integrated services for various fruit such as kiwifruit, cherries, blueberries and avocados.
The complex features pre-cooling functions, warehousing, quality inspections, inventory management, fruit ripening facilities, packaging and others.
The park has been awarded LEED Platinum certification – issued by the US Green Building Council which runs LEED, an internationally respected green building rating system.
At the opening ceremony, a new packaging center operated by Zespri International Limited – the world's largest marketer of kiwifruit – was unveiled and the US Green Building Council awarded the park the LEED Platinum medal.
The park is equipped with precise temperature controls, ultrasonic humidification and fresh air systems and has 10 independent ripening rooms, which can provide ripening services for 76,000 standard boxes of Zespri kiwifruit per week. It is the first automatic kiwifruit sorting and packaging line in Asia.
The park has also introduced automated shelves, increased efficiency and reduced energy consumption.
