A tree planting activity for international students in China was successfully held in the Ordos Engebei Ecological Demonstration Zone in Ordos city, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on April 22.
The activity was jointly sponsored by the information office of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional People's Government and the region's education department.
According to the sponsors, as of now, there have been seven consecutive tree-planting sessions, and such activities have received positive responses from the participating international students.
More than 80 people participated in this year's tree planting activity, including international students from 14 countries, such as Mongolia, Russia, Pakistan and Kazakhstan. Other participants included student and teacher representatives from Inner Mongolia Ethnics Early Childhood Normal College.

After the tree planting activity, participants visited the Engebei Desert Museum and a green farm and livestock processing base.
The lecturers of the Engebei Desert Museum introduced the different types of deserts, and their distribution patterns to the students. They also led the students to understand the scientific knowledge behind utilizing natural resources in desert areas to control desertification in arid areas. The successful ecological treatment cases in Engebei were also highlighted during the trip.
A Mongolian student from Inner Mongolia University of Technology said: "Planting trees is a very meaningful thing in itself. This activity has given me a deeper understanding of the hardworking and kind-hearted Chinese people's efforts against desertification.”
The Chinese plan for desertification control is of great reference value to Mongolia, he added.
