A special exhibition on ancient Syria opened at the Shanxi Museum in Taiyuan, capital of North China's Shanxi province, on April 18.

The West Asian region is one of the birthplaces of civilization. Syria, at the intersection of Asia, Africa and Europe, is an important trade hub and strategic military area, where various ethnic groups and cultures collide and blend.

Divided into four sections, the exhibition presents the rich cultural sites and relics of Syria from the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Greco-Roman and Islamic eras, highlighting the interaction between ancient Syria and other civilizations in terms of religion, architecture, art, culture and thought.

A total of 195 groups of cultural relics from Damascus Museum, Aleppo Museum, and Deir Ezzur Museum in Syria will be on display until July 9.
