Dalian FTZ cuts used-car export clearance to just 4 hrs

A company in the Dalian Free Trade Zone recently exported over 40 secondhand NEVs to the Middle East. The customs clearance procedures for these cars were completed at the Dalian Automobile Terminal (DAT) and the entire process took just four hours.

This speedy clearance was made possible through a new centralized inspection and approval model for secondhand cars at the vehicle management port at the DAT. This mode was jointly implemented by the Dalian FTZ and the Dalian municipal vehicle management office, a joint operation that has no precedent in northeast China.

In the past, it used to take at least 3-4 days to complete the process of exporting a secondhand car. Companies had to transport the car to a vehicle management office that was far away to complete the necessary inspection and approval procedures, then transport it to a port to be exported. During transportation, the company had to pay shipping fees and bear the risk of accidental damage or even complete loss.

To help businesses save time and money in logistics, the Dalian FTZ and the municipal vehicle management office came up with a new centralized inspection mode. This mode eliminates the need for enterprises to transport their vehicles back and forth for customs clearance inspection procedures.

Now, exporters of secondhand vehicles can transport them to the designated export inspection site at the DAT and apply for the inspection with the vehicle management office.
