Video: Celebrating the Chinese New Year with dragon dancing in Wenzhou

My hometown is Wenzhou, Zhejiang province. Folk dragon dancing here is not like lion and dragon dancing in Guangdong province. In the new century, it has gradually evolved into a row of dragon lanterns being pulled through streets and houses. In the towering city, it can enter communities and circle around high-rise buildings three times to pray for blessings in the coming year. This activity has not been held in the past three years, but in this Chinese New Year, the splendid dragon dance finally reappeared on the streets. Folk bands also performed voluntarily for everyone, and enthusiastic people joined in to sing songs. Children ate sweet sugar paintings, and people lit bonfires and set off grand fireworks. The dragon dancers ran wildly, the magnificent lantern dragon galloped, and children and old people laughed happily, welcoming the Chinese New Year. [Video by Zhou Nan]
