Chery launched its first independent new energy brand, iCAR, in Shanghai on Sunday, just two days before the Shanghai auto show, to show its ambition in the burgeoning sector.
The brand unveiled the 03 SUV and the GT concept at the event. It said iCAR will provide intelligent driving experiences in a variety of scenarios with the i-MS multi-dimensional new energy architecture and i-VA ecology.
The i-VA, a virtual character and iCAR's operating system will bring users a fully digital automotive experience.
iCAR has established an ecosystem alliance with leading technology companies, including CATL, Tencent, JD, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence and others to provide intelligent driving experiences for users.
The iCAR brand is aimed at the younger generation. Bao Siyu, CEO of iCAR, said the brand has planned six models for the market.
Meanwhile, Chery and CATL announced they will team up to create a new battery brand called ENER-Q.
The battery brand will cover all power types and materials for various applications, with high adaptability, safety and cost-effectiveness.
CATL's sodium-ion batteries will be first used in Chery's models, the two said at the car launch.
