The construction of three cultural facilities – the Wuxi Art Museum, Wuxi Culture and Art Center, and Wuxi Symphony Hall – commenced on April 2.
With a combined investment of more than 2.6 billion yuan ($378.52 million), the three cultural facilities cover an area of nearly 100,000 square meters.
The Wuxi Art Museum in the Wuxi Economic Development District will serve as a venue for exhibitions, cultural exchanges, creation, and talent training.
The Wuxi Culture and Art Center in Binhu district will include a 500-seat theater, a 350-seat theater, a multipurpose hall, and a teahouse-style theater exclusively for Xiju Opera performances.
The Wuxi Symphony Hall in Xinwu district includes a 1,500-seat Wuxi Symphony Hall, a 500-seat multipurpose concert hall, an art exchange center, and a performing arts and business center.
The Wuxi Symphony Hall is the most eye-catching piece of architecture. The glass-walled ball-shaped building looks like a rising moon next to Taihu Lake when it lights up at night.
