The final event of the Xi'an City Wall International Marathon series of activities came to an end in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on April 9.
The series first kicked off on Dec 9, 2022 when the registration channel opened.
Divided into seven legs, the marathon series was hosted by seven districts, counties and development zones in the city, attracting more than 20,000 participants.
The routes and check-in points showcased the beauty of Xi'an from different aspects, featuring the Xi'an Olympic Sports Center, the ruins of the Weiyang Palace in the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24), Zhaohui Square and sites.
Runners said the participation was a great way to get a real handle on the development achievements of Xi'an.
"The marathon event is very well organized. Runners can take pictures and win surprise gift boxes during the run," said Hu Bo, one of the runners in the Xi'an High-tech Industries and Development Zone leg.
"It is both fresh and mysterious. The experience of participating is very satisfying," Hu added.
