A team from Nanjing University of Science and Technology has clinched the championship of the 8th China International College Students' "Internet +" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition on Sunday.
The team, led by the university's doctoral student Wang Bowen, focused on infrared intelligent computational imaging. His team got 860 points out of a possible 1,000.
A team from Beihang University was the runner-up while four teams from Peking University, Zhejiang University, Carnegie Mellon University in the United States, and ETH Zurich in Switzerland, settled for the third place.
The Championship of the 8th Competition was held in Chongqing University. This year's competition, with "Dare to Differ, Dare to Win" as the theme, covered areas of internet, manufacturing, information technology services, and modern agriculture.
Since its launch in April 2022, 3.4 million projects, 14.5 million students and 4,554 universities and colleges from 111 countries and regions have registered for the competition, and the number of participants has exceeded 10 million for the first time.
Compared with the last competition, both the number of overseas projects and the number of participants rose. Top universities such as Harvard, MIT, Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial College London set up teams to sign up for the competition.
The competition has been held eight times since it was inaugurated in 2015, and nearly 39.83 million students have participated in it. The number of participants continues to increase year after year.
The 9th competition will be held at Tianjin University later this year.
