Hu Tinglu (1884-1943) is a modern artist born in Wuxi, Jiangsu province. Hu not only specialized in bird-and-flower paintings, but also excelled in landscape paintings, which were inspired by the styles of early Qing Dynasty monk artists Shitao and Kuncan (both active 17th century).
This painting was created in his later years and integrates the features of Southern and Northern schools. It is from the permanent collection of the Wuxi Museum.
