Nokia Shanghai Bell, a joint venture between leading telecom company Nokia Corp and a State-owned investment firm, opened the OpenX Lab Innovation Center in Pudong New Area, East China's Shanghai, on March 15.
The center is also the first Group Open Innovation (GOI) platform set up in Shanghai by a multinational company in the information communication and high-tech sectors.
The OpenX Lab will integrate the global resources of Nokia Shanghai Bell, promote the research and development of key generic technologies, as well as continue to empower innovative enterprises.
Nokia Shanghai Bell will make continuous efforts to accelerate the sustainable development of the innovation center, as well as encourage more upstream and downstream partners to join its ecosystem to promote the development of industries like intelligent parks and the industrial metaverse.
The GOI plan is part of its efforts to accomplish the mission assigned by the central government to turn Pudong into a pioneering force in the socialist modernization of China and to have the area become a key engine in self-reliant innovation. It is currently enrolling 34 technologically advanced companies, encouraging industry leaders like Covestro to set up open innovation platforms, as well as calling for deeper integration among government services, industries, universities, and research institutes.
