The Liantou New Youth community – located in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) – is a successful example of how the valley solves the transitional housing problems for young talents coming from places outside OVC.
The first and second phases of the community have already been established, and have been running since 2015 and 2018 respectively.
There are 2,774 apartments in the community in total, with more than 2,000 young residents. As of recently, about 300 apartments have been made available for rental.

Brand-new customized housing products have been provided to individuals based on their incomes, personal preferences and workplace positions. Enterprises in need can rent residential buildings for their employees, and can choose unified furniture for all the rooms.
Each apartment occupies an area ranging from 50 to 73 square meters, and has an independent balcony, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom. The apartment is also equipped with furniture, such as closets, sofas, chairs and tables. [Photo/WeChat account of Optics Valley of China]
In terms of public transport, residents can use the No 18 and No 750 buses to travel to work. Once completed, residents will also have access to Metro Line 19, which will go directly to Optics Valley Central City.
Targeting young people's distinct social, shopping and recreational needs, the community has built a 700-sq m shared dining hall, which features a theater, a mini library, a gaming area, and a music corner.

In addition, 24-hour convenience stores, cafés, and outdoor courts can all be found around the community.
