A delegation from the municipality of Zvezdara in Belgrade, Serbia visited Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province from Feb 21 to 23, expecting to carry out comprehensive cooperation with the Chinese city in the future.
Pan Jianhua, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Nantong Municipal People's Congress, met with Dragana Duric, deputy head of the municipality of Zvezdara.
Pan noted that China and Serbia are promoting mutual cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and expressed hope that Nantong and Zvezdara will strengthen cooperation in education, healthcare, tourism, culture, and industries.
Chen Dongmei, vice-mayor of Nantong, introduced the city's economic and social development and expects that both sides will deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields and make their cooperation an example for other Chinese and Serbian sister cities to follow.
During the visit, the Medical Center of Zvezdara University inked a friendly cooperation agreement with the First People's Hospital of Nantong. The Zvezdara delegation also visited Nantong University, Zilang First Primary School, Nantong Museum, and other places.
Last year, Nantong and Zvezdara established sister-city relations. Nantong first established sister-city relations with a foreign city in 1987 and currently has sister-city relations with 27 cities in 17 countries and regions.
