Wuxi-based Sunan Ruili Airlines signed a letter of intent on cooperation with the Brazilian company Embraer S.A., one of the world's largest aeronautic builders, in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, on March 3.
The two sides will deepen their cooperation in aviation product supply, staff training, and aeronautical technology support in an effort to serve as role models for cooperation between China and Brazil in the aviation industry.
Du Xiaogang, mayor of Wuxi, and Joao Batista Magalhaes, counselor of the Brazilian embassy in China, attended the signing ceremony.
Du gave a briefing on the city's economic and social development, especially the development of its aviation industry.
The mayor noted that Wuxi in recent years has carried out comprehensive cooperation with Brazil, leading to closer relations in trade, sister-city exchanges, and fighting the pandemic.
Magalhaes thanked Wuxi for its contributions to the friendly cooperation between the two countries, especially the city's strong support for the production of COVID-19 vaccines.
He hopes the two sides will further expand their cooperation and that the Brazilian embassy in China will maintain close communications with Wuxi and support the city in hosting a Brazilian Day activity.
Last year, Wuxi's trade with Brazil totaled $1.41 billion, up 23.5 percent from 2021. To date, Wuxi has invested in eight projects in Brazil, while Brazil has had 11 projects in Wuxi.
