East China's Shanghai is hosting its second Ride the Wave of Rising Shanghai global investment promotions season – from late March to late June – with eight themed events covering such fields as infrastructure, industrial parks and new towns.
The event aims to showcase Shanghai's development vitality and investment opportunities – and attract more Chinese and international investors to share in the city's future development.
The first Ride the Wave of Rising Shanghai global investment promotions season was held in the third quarter of 2022.
This was widely said to have played a positive role in boosting the confidence of domestic and foreign business entities to invest in Shanghai after the COVID-19 pandemic and in accelerating the recovery of its fixed asset investment.
In 2022, Shanghai's actual use of foreign capital topped $23.5 billion, setting a record.
It's expected that the 2023 global promotions season will focus more on integrated reforms, opening-up and effectiveness. On the basis of last year's effort, it will aim to further expand the scale and influence of the event – and invite more domestic and foreign investors to share in Shanghai's future development and investment opportunities.
Hopes are that the new season will boost Shanghai's attractiveness for domestic and foreign capital, optimize its supply structure through effective investment and promote its high-quality development.
