The emergency relief supplies donated by China to Vanuatu in response to the hurricane arrived in the latter's capital Port-Vila on March 16, 2023. Prime Minister of Vanuatu Ishmael Kalsakau and Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu Li Minggang attended the handover ceremony.

Noting that China and Vanuatu are good friends, brothers and partners who share weal and woe with each other, Li said that the Chinese people feel for those who suffered from the disaster in Vanuatu. Through unremitting efforts, China collected a batch of relief supplies such as tents, water treatment equipment, tarpaulins, folding beds and first aid kits, hoping to help the victims tide over the difficulties and facilitate their post-disaster reconstruction work, he said.

Kalsakau extended his appreciation to the Chinese government for the relief supplies and said that China's assistance reflects the profound friendship between the two countries and is of great importance to relieving the difficulties of the victims. He pledged to make proper arrangement of the supplies to ensure early distribution among those affected.
