A total area of 550,000 square meters covering 122 parcels of shared urban green land was recently made accessible to the public in Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – according to the local media.
In accordance with an official list, shared urban green space consists of comprehensive and community parks, lawn areas, tourism parks and other green land.
In the Taizhou Medical High Tech Zone – also known as Gaogang district – open green land in the ever-popular Tiandehu park is around the southeast gate; while in Zhoushan River scenic spot, the open area is to the north of Zhoushan River.
Moreover, Jiangyan district, Taixing city, Jingjiang city and Xinghua city – all administered by the prefecture-level Taizhou city – also made the list.
It is understood that Taizhou has started operating the urban green spaces as pilot areas in February. After carrying out careful assessment and inspections of spare spaces and lawn areas for recreation activities, the Taizhou government went ahead and announced the list.
Along with the growth of economic revenue and people's living standards, locals have called for much more green space for them to enjoy the natural environment near their homes. The result was Taizhou city’s moves to expand the scale of open green land.
Moving forwards, plans are for Taizhou to set itself the goal of establishing systems for the management and protection of green space and improving convenient service facilities.
