Construction work on 72 major tourism projects began in Northeast China's Jilin province, with launch ceremonies held simultaneously across the province on March 20.
Among them, there are 14 new projects and 58 ongoing projects, with a total investment of 108.3 billion yuan ($15.72 billion). Additionally, there are 52 projects that are each worth over 100 million yuan.
The newly started projects focus on the two major brands: ice and snow, and summer resorts and leisure. They cover various business formats such as ecology, health care, and digitalization.
The number of projects starting at this time accounted for 45 percent of the planned construction projects in the province, and the annual planned investment reached 9.08 billion yuan, accounting for 62.5 percent of the province's total annual planned investment.
The projects are distributed in a wide range. Among them, the number of projects in Changchun, Jilin, and Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture reached 48, with a total investment of 85.66 billion yuan.
Tonghua and Meihekou started construction on five and two projects respectively, with an investment scale of 15.75 billion yuan.
There are a total of 17 projects in Siping, Liaoyuan, Songyuan, Baicheng, Baishan, and Changbai Mountains, with an investment scale of over 6.9 billion yuan.
Among them, the Beidahu Ski Resort development project has a total investment of 31 billion yuan, and a planned area of 1,484 hectares.
After the completion of this project, the length of its ski trails will reach 219 kilometers, the ski trail area will measure at 650 hectares, the number of cable cars will be 29, and the number of visitors is expected to reach 2.53 million per year. It will become a world-class ski tourism and leisure resort.
