In 2014, Danzhai county in Southwest China's Guizhou province and Wanda Group signed a poverty alleviation agreement, the first one-on-one model of social poverty alleviation in China.
According to the agreement, Wanda Group will provide funds, attract business and enhance education to establish a long-term and sustainable mechanism to help Danzhai shake off poverty.
Instead of donations, Wanda proposed the idea of boosting local development through industry. It decided to build a tourism village to develop Danzhai's all-for-one tourism and boost economic development.

On July 3, 2017, Danzhai Wanda Village officially opened to the public and received more than 170,000 visits in just three days.
The village has introduced eight national and more than 10 provincial intangible cultural heritage items, such as Miao batik, papermaking with time-honored methods, Miao clothing and Miao dance.
Among the more than 200 shops at Danzhai Wanda Village, 75 percent are involved in intangible cultural heritage.
Danzhai Wanda Village is also equipped with hot spring hotels, conference centers, theaters, homestays, cinemas, holiday camps and other facilities, and provides catering, accommodation, transportation, visiting, shopping and entertainment to tourists.
