The world's biggest wind power and solar power production base developed in the Gobi desert is currently under construction in Dalad Banner in the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
The project is located in the Kubuqi Desert, the seventh-largest desert in China.
The project is designed to have a total installed capacity of 16 million kilowatts, including photovoltaics measuring in at 8 million kW, wind power measuring in at 4 million kW, and advanced high-efficiency coal power measuring in at 4 million kW.

This is the first 10-million-kW-level new energy base in the country, and it will receive a total investment of over 80 billion yuan ($14.41 billion).
Currently, 47 million mu (3.13 million hectares) of the project area has finished site leveling procedures, and the rest is estimated to be completed by June 2023.
