Liangjiang to build trillion-yuan-level digital economy cluster

Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing announced its action plan to build a trillion-yuan-level digital economy industry cluster at the Mingyue Lake Innovation and Development Conference on Digital Economy and Satellite Internet, on March 18.

By 2026, Liangjiang New Area is expected to cultivate two to three listed companies and three to five unicorn enterprises. The area is also expected to achieve a revenue of 50 billion yuan.

By 2029, plans are for the area to cultivate three to five listed companies, eight to ten unicorn enterprises, and one enterprise with an employee scale of 10,000. It has also planned to achieve a revenue of 100 billion yuan at that time.

By 2032, the area will have cultivated eight to ten listed companies, 20 to 30 unicorn enterprises, and three enterprises each with an employee scale of 10,000 each. At that point, Liangjiang New Area is expected to have achieved a trillion-yuan-level revenue scale.

Six major supportive projects will be constructed and implemented to ensure the achievements of the action plan. These projects include the digital industrialization support project, the industrial digital transformation project, the data factorization innovation project, the satellite internet breakthrough project, the mid-to-high-end talent gathering project, and the digital economy business environment enhancement project.

According to the plan, the Chongqing Digital Economy Innovation Park, which was inaugurated at the conference, will serve as the core carrier to promote the integrated development of Liangjiang New Area's digital economy and satellite internet, and upgrade industrial capabilities.

The park covers a total area of 30 square kilometers in Liangjiang New Area, and is part of an integrated development plan with the Liangjiang Collaborative Innovation Zone. The zone is home to many universities, colleges, institutes, and organizations from home and abroad, which are involved in scientific and technological innovation and commercialization.

As the first data-driven park in China, the Chongqing Digital Economy Innovation Park establishes an online and offline data-driven aggregated operation platform. The park will promote the industry from three major aspects: scenarios, funds, and policies. Scenarios will lead the factorization of data and industrial ecology development. The park has set up a 10-billion-yuan fund to attract talents and promote the development of industrial clusters.

A signing ceremony was also held at the conference, where the first batch of 50 enterprises involved in platform economy, satellite internet, and the digital economy inked cooperation agreements with the Chongqing Digital Economy Innovation Park.

The conference also invited industry experts and representatives from leading companies to share their views on digitalization, the autonomous computing industry, and the satellite internet industry.
