"I expect the country to cultivate more technical professionals to boost the high-quality development of the semiconductor industry," said Sun Huaqin, producing director at SK Hynix Semiconductor (China) Ltd in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province.
Sun is also a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress, and the annual session is currently being held in Beijing from March 5 to 13.
The semiconductor industry is a basic strategic industry that supports local economic and social development, while industrial innovation requires large numbers of professionals, she noted.
Sun suggested cultivating a group of urgently-needed professionals and strengthening the development of crucial technologies and products.
She also suggested more customized incentive policies for talent and the further integration of technology and science into primary, secondary, and senior education.
As the hub of China's integrated circuit industry, Wuxi has formed a complete IC industrial cluster covering research, manufacturing, package testing, design, application, and services.
SK Hynix has become one of the foreign-funded enterprises in Jiangsu with the largest investment, most advanced technology, and fastest development, according to the NPC deputy.
Last year, Wuxi authorities inked a strategic cooperation agreement with SK Hynix to start a new round of deep cooperation, Sun added.
