Pingsha Wetland Park opened to the public in Pingsha New Town of Jinwan District on March 12, China's Tree Planting Day.
The park lies adjacent to Huangmao Sea in the west, Sanhu Avenue in the east, Sanqian River in the north, and a planned industrial zone in the south. It covers a total area of 2.07 square kilometers (512 acres), of which the river system accounts for 1.28 sq km (316 acres).
Facilities, including plank roads, an ecological exhibition hall, a tourist boat berth, and pavilions, have been built to offer tourists some much-needed rest and recreation.

Located near mangrove wetlands on an appropriate latitude in the Northern Hemisphere, the park serves as one of the important stopover sites for migratory birds. Every year, it attracts a diverse range of rare birds for a short stay.
The main goal of building the wetland park here is to protect and restore the existing ecosystem and strengthen the protection of bird habitats, said an executive from Zhuhai Huihua Holding Group, the park's constructor and operator. "Ecology first" has been the main focus during the park's design and construction.
