Unique resources to boost Guizhou's tourism sector

Guizhou province in Southwest China, which is home to many unique tourist attractions, has been working to improve its business environment in order to attract more domestic and international enterprises to invest in the tourism sector, local media reported.

A tourism business and investment promotion activity was held in Shanghai on March 10. Lu Yongzheng, a member of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee and head of the committee's publicity department, attended the event and made a speech.

Lu said that Shanghai had offered financial, project and talent introduction support to Guizhou before 2021. Guizhou aims to take this cultural and tourism cooperation as an opportunity to enhance the collaboration between East and West China.

A province of flowers

The complex terrain and climate in Guizhou make it possible to enjoy a great variety of plants and form a unique "sea of flowers". The province has by far the largest, most diverse and most well-preserved primitive azalea forest in the world, with an area of more than 125 square kilometers. Every year from late March to May, different species of azaleas in the scenic spot come into full bloom.

There is also a cherry garden in Guian in the province, which was once hailed as "the most beautiful cherry garden on the planet" by a BBC documentary, with a total area of more than 24,000 mu (1,600 hectares) and more than 700,000 cherry trees.

A province of mountains and waters

More than 92 percent of Guizhou's land area is covered by mountains and hills with waterfalls, karst caves, canyons and lakes. The province is well known for its many world natural heritage sites. In addition to the magnificent mountains such as Jiucaiping, Fanjing Mountain and Yuntai Mountain, it also boasts plentiful waterfalls such as the Huangguoshu Waterfall, Chishui Waterfall, Malinghe Waterfall, and Wolongtan Waterfall, which have given Guizhou a reputation as the "hometown of waterfalls".

A province of ethnic culture

Guizhou is a province with various minority ethnic groups in China, forming cultures and traditions that make it unique and vibrant. Generations of people from 17 minority ethnic groups live in harmony in the province. It also has the largest tea plantation area of any province in China.

Unique tourist attraction

Relying on its many tourist attractions, Guizhou has been endeavoring to promote the industrialization of the sector and boost the province's tourism market in recent years. It strives to become world-class mountain tourism destination and a first-class healthcare and holiday center.

Guizhou is also known as a "bridge museum". Among the top 10 highest bridges in the world, four are in Guizhou. Bridge sightseeing and extreme sports are business forms with a great investment value.

Transportation strength

Due to its geographical position, Guizhou plays a significant role in China's economic development. It also enjoys an important position in the Belt and Road Initiative. In recent years, transportation infrastructure construction in Guizhou has developed rapidly, with most of areas connected by high-speed railways and highways. Civil aviation airports cover all cities at and above prefecture level, and there are more than 30 million civil aviation trips per year.
