Hongqiao Intl CBD leads YRD regional integrated development

Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District has made new progress in boosting the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.

Ruan Qing, deputy director of the Shanghai Development and Reform Commission, said at a news conference that the Hongqiao International CBD, as the "one core" of the Hongqiao International Open Hub, is speeding up the development of pillar industries and creating a breeding ground for the headquarters economy fueled by private enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta region.

It connects with the counties and urban areas on the "two belts", one stretching north to Jiangsu province and the other south to Zhejiang province, which enables it to carry out in-depth cooperation in industries like aviation services, artificial intelligence, digital finance, life sciences and health, as well as intelligent connected vehicles.

The Hongqiao International CBD will increase the superimposed advantages of national plans and attract more professionals. Its growth rate of cross-city commuting has seen a continued upward trend in recent years.

The area offers public services to enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta region. For example, Newhongqiao International Medical Center has set up a corporate trademark window to share technologies and resources to companies in the region.

Hongqiao will also give full play to its function as a comprehensive transportation hub, accelerate the construction of a cross-regional rail transit network, and optimize air transport services.

It centers on the coordinated development of the area, as well as surrounding cities in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces, expanding the radiation range of Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station to the high-speed rail network around the Yangtze River Delta region.

In addition, the area has launched major cross-regional transport projects, such as the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou high-speed railway and the Shanghai-Suzhou-Jiaxing intercity railway.

In the future, the Hongqiao International CBD will continue to enhance its core competitiveness, integrate resources in a wider range, and promote the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
